Move an existing app into a team workspace
Copy a local Rayfin project into a team workspace as a new team app without changing the original local project.
Warning
Team workspaces are an experiment. Turn them on in Settings → Experiments. They may change or be removed in a future update.
Move a local project into a team workspace when you want teammates to work on a copy of it. Fabricator keeps the original local project where it is.
Before you move
The app must use Rayfin 1.36.2 or newer. If it is older, Fabricator stops with a message like:
"
<name>uses Rayfin<version>, and team workspaces need Rayfin 1.36.2 or newer. Open the app, select Rayfin in the status bar, choose Update with Copilot, then move it again."
Open the app, select Rayfin in the status bar, and choose Update with Copilot. Then try the move again.
Move the app
- On Home, find the local project.
- Select Manage.
- In Manage project, find Move to a team workspace.
- Choose the workspace.
- Select Move.
Fabricator copies the project into the team repository, copies the chat history to the new team app, creates your working branch, saves the app to GitHub, and opens a pull request so the preview pipeline can deploy it.
What changes
The team copy deploys as a new Fabric app. Data in the old deployment is not copied.
The original local project stays as it is. You can keep it in Fabricator, remove it from recent projects, or remove it later with the normal local project controls.
Use the workspace overview
Use the app-centered workspace overview to inspect apps, working copies, previews, published deployments, data, connections, and pipeline health.
